Jazz pianist Mike Wofford has been picked to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's San Diego Music Awards.

A seasoned player who's been throwing down for decades, Wofford has appeared in more than 200 recordings as a sideman, worked alongside Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, performed and recorded with the likes of John Lennon and Joan Baez, and even served in the '80s as the staff pianist for The Cosby Show. Most recently, he and his wife Holly Hofmann led a quintet on Turn Signal, an album that came out in January.

Wofford isn't the only musician getting special recognition this year. Blues singer Candye Kane, who's battling cancer, will receive a Courage In Music Award.

The awards ceremony will be held at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on Monday, August 13. There will be live performances by at least half a dozen bands, including P.O.D. and Unwritten Law. You can get tickets for the show hereIn the mean time, watch the video below of Wofford jamming with Hofmann.
