Johaz of Deep Rooted drops new EP

'The Alina Marin Theory' available for free download

By Peter Holslin

The guys in Deep Rooted have been keeping busy lately. In January, Long Beach-based producer Mr. Brady dropped a solid EP featuring up-and-coming beatmaker AbJo, and also dropped some hints about a new Deep Rooted album. Earlier this month, the celebrated local hip-hop group came out of hibernation to perform at Bar Pink. And, last week, rapper Johaz released his own sweet new EP just in time for Valentine's Day, The Alina Marin Theory

You can download the EP for free here. But the fun doesn't stop there. Johaz will perform with underground hip-hop producer Exile at Boar Cross'n in Carlsbad on Thursday, Feb. 23. As I write in this week's installment of If I Were U, they've teamed up under the name Dag Savage. Check out their track "Mic Jackson," which came out last year on Exile's Intro to the Outro mixtape.
