The city of San Diego has decided to allow local performance group Technomania Circus to continue operating its Logan Heights venue as a theater. CityBeat broke the news Wednesday about Technomania's issues with the neighborhood's outdated zoning rules and how the group would need to pay an estimated $17,200 for permits to continue operating Victory Theaterlocated at 2558 Imperial Ave.

On Monday, CityBeat spoke with Councilmember David Alvarez—whose district includes Logan Heights. Alvarez said he's seeing "more and more" problems come up as the neighborhood outgrows its community plan, which hasn't been updated since 1987.

Today,
Chris Larson, a senior planner with the city, wrote in an email to Alvarez's office that since the Victory Theater building was originally used as a theater and a church, and since it wouldn't require any additional parking space, the permits won't be necessary.
