The Athenaeum recently announced the winners of its 20th Annual Juried Exhibition. The jurors this year were Kathryn Kanjo, chief curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and Joseph Bellows, owner of the eponymous gallery in La Jolla. Juried Exhibition will remain on view through Sept. 3.
And the winners are...
First Place: James SOE NYUN for his pigment photographs of landscapes in Yellowstone National Park and Shoshone Falls in Idaho.
Second Place: Colin Tuis Nesbit for his hand-drawn stone lithograph entitled, "Here is where we meet."
Third Place: Joshua Jon Miller for his mixed-media sculpture, which stands on the floor of the Athenaeum’s Main Gallery.
A monetary prize and a year-long family membership to the museum were awarded to each of the first, second and third place artists.
Honorable mentions: Ela Boyd, Mark Bryce, Bijan Dowlatshahi, Michelle Montjoy and Cecilia Stanford.
