When Rhino Entertainment cracked down on TV Girl's Todd Rundgren-sampling track "If You Want It" last month, the local indie-pop duo issued an eloquent letter defending their right to sample anybody they want.
They drive their point home on their new EP, Benny and The Jetts, a summery pop confection in which they not only use plenty of samples, but reference Elton John, give shout-outs to Richard Hell and African drumming and allude to musical plunder in general ("I wrote a new song / It sounds like one of your songs").
