A Scribe Amidst the Lions get zany on "Backdoor Betty"

New track finds A Scribe Amidst the Lions as multifarious as ever

- A Scribe Amidst the Lions

A Scribe Amidst the Lions have a reputation for jumping effortlessly from genre to genre, and that's exactly what the local prog-rockers do on "Backdoor Betty," the single from their new EP, The Lidless Kind. In it, the band opens with some crunchy prog-metal guitar before launching into a piano-led, Aquabats-style ska section, then closes out with a sweeping breakdown that calls to mind The Wall-era Pink Floyd. The video (below) matches the song's zaniness, showing the band as they drive around the city in their tour van.

Download the track below, then head on over to Scribe's EP-release party at The Casbah on Friday, July 1. The Napoleon Complex, Roswell That Ends Well and Sundrop Electric also perform; DJ Gonzo spins tunes.
