Nuvi Mehta loves researching music and finding out all the history and interesting little factoids behind it. One night, while conducting a live musical performance, a light bulb went off and he decided to share some of his tidbits of knowledge.
"I said, 'You know what, I'm going to turn around and I'm going to talk to the audience,'" Mehta says.
Mehta's love of storytelling evolved into the current Symphony Exposed series. More of a multimedia showcase than a lecture, the audience is invited to learn about a piece of music through Mehta's entertaining antics. He's been known to get into character to bring dead composers to life. And, he doesn't shy away from asking the musicians to help him further illustrate his points. It's music-meets-storytelling madness—a real thrill if you follow along and even better if you stick around for the official Symphony Exposed after-parties at the Se Hotel.
