Welcome to Wonderland

The Wonderland International Festival of Contemporary Dance twirls through San Diego

The dancers have arrived. Tech is set. Now, all ArtPower!, Sushi Contemporary Performance & Visual Arts and UCSD's Theatre and Dance department have to do is make sure 10 live performances in just three days go off without a hitch. And then there are the all-important parties and workshops to worry about.

No problemo, says ArtPower! artistic director Martin Wollesen. He says he and his collaborators are ready to roll out Wonderland, the new festival of dance featuring four international dance companies: Kate Weare, Lux Boreal Monica Bill Barnes and Chunky Move.

Push play to get a quick peak behind the curtains of the first-ever (maybe bi-annual from here on out) Wonderland Dance Festival and learn a little more about why the three arts organizations wanted to team up and take on such a big endeavor.

This week's music was "Relief" by Chris Garneau, a song that Lux Boreal's Henry Torres taught a master class to at UCSD this week.  Click here to watch the video.
