San Diego's Congressional delegation increased payroll by $258,385 in the fourth quarter of 2010, according to data released by LegiStorm on Tuesday.
To come up with the figures—LegiStorm says the increases indicate large fourth-quarter bonuses—the transparency organization obtained quarterly payroll data from the House of Representatives. Then LegiStorm data crunchers averaged out the money spent by each member of Congress for the first three quarters, then noted the increase in the fourth quarter.
Issa and Hunter are Republicans. Davis and Filner are Democrats.
Rep. Brian Bilbray, a Republican, is the only member from San Diego who saw a reduction in expenses. He spent an average of $246,111 in the first three quarters, but only $233,665 in the fourth. That works out to $12,446 or a 5 percent reduction, which may be explained by the departure of his spokesperson, Fritz Chaleff, who was not replaced until this session.
