Digable fried food
Known for doing crazy things with fried food, vendors at this year's San Diego County Fair didn't disappoint. One of them took a churro, wrapped it in smoked bacon and infused it with booze to come up with the most buzzed-about deep-fried food at the fair this year (look for the Bacon A-Fair booth for the artery-clogging treat). Other fair-food frontrunners include the triple-decker Krispy Kreme cheeseburger, a grilled cream-cheese hotdog, deep-fried chicken skins and boneless buffalo pig wings (we’re still not sure what those actually are). The fair opens , and continues through , at the Del Mar Fairgrounds (2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.). This year’s theme,"The Fab Fair," is a nod to the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' first visit to the U.S., which means you can enjoy throwback things like a John F. Kennedy exhibit. $14, plus parking.
