Nearly 25 years ago, the Pizza Port brand was born on the side of Coast Highway 101 in Solana Beach. By 1992, it was offering craft brews to customers, thus playing a key role in the evolution of a beer scene that ultimately produced me. So blame them, I guess.
A couple of decades later, Pizza Port is opening its fifth location (not counting a bottle shop), in Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad (2730 Gateway Road), built on the same platform of San Diego-style pizzas and award-winning beers. This presents you with an exciting opportunity to get in on PP's IPO—Initial PIZZA Offering, that is! BA-DUM-CHING!
(There’s no need to be disgusted with me, by the way. I already hate myself for that one.)
The weekend-long grand opening extravaganza begins tonight at 5 p.m. Each day will feature a specialty brew served out of PP's new fish-tank tap. The beer doesn’t do much for the lifespan of the fish, but I assure you that their foreshortened lives are far more blissful than any other ocean creature's. Here’s the lineup:
Satuday: Ponto Pale Ale
Sunday: Bressi Brown Ale (new!)
If eating and drinking aren’t your thing, there will also be chances to win prizes outside in the Pizza Port Frisbee toss and a tie-dye station for your event tee (only $10, with a commemorative pint glass to boot).
