If you were to ask me what my two favorite things are, I would answer, "That's easy: beers that conform to Reinheitsgebot standards and brachycephalic dogs." And if you feel the same way, you're probably painfully aware how seldom it is you get to enjoy both concurrently. Until Pugtoberfest rolls around, at least.
Pugtoberfest is a festival offering craft beers, food, music and itty-bitty widdle squishy-nosed pugs in itty-bitty widdle doggy-lederhosen in El Cajon, happening from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. All food and drink proceeds will benefit Pug Rescue San Diego, a nonprofit that I'm assuming is dedicated to retrieving pugs that have fallen into wells or snatching them from burning buildings in gallant and heroic fashion.
The event is free for those who just wish to revel in dogs clad in the garb of traditional German townsfolk. Those who wish to drink can buy a wristband for $20 prior the event or pick it up for $25 at the door.
