The passing of Labor Day doesn't just mark the passing of summer. To me, it's a kickoff date to begin welcoming the seasonally spicier and maltier brews. After all, as San Diego temperatures begin to dip into the low 70s, you're going to want something to drink that will combat the chill.
Helm's Brewing Company is ready to oblige that need (and do a little pandering to the Celtic neopagans) with today's release of the Samuin Harvest fall seasonal beer. Starting at noon today, they'll be pouring this pumpkin amber ale that includes many of the season's classic ingredients of pumpkin, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and brown sugar.
Helm's Brewing's Kearny Mesa tasting room will be open until 9 p.m. tonight.
