Just don't tell anyone--it's a secret!

Secrets are so trendy these days. Scratch that—special. Secrets make you feel special. Like this email we received from Bill Lynch, chair of the right-leaning, pro-business, members-only organization, Lincoln Club of San Diego County:

From: "Bill Lynch"
Date: June 21, 2013, 8:39:33 PM EDT
Subject: Keep this secret

XXXX -

I’m going to be at Carl DeMaio’s Congressional reception on Tuesday, June 25. Can you join me? I’m supporting Carl because we need his leadership on reform in Washington, and we need to keep his voice for reform active here locally. At the same time, we need Carl at the top of the local ticket in 2014, because it will attract national funding and local enthusiasm to help us win our two target Council races. So, please let me know: Can you stand with me June 25 to support Carl?

Let me know
Bill Lynch Chairman of the Lincoln Club of San Diego County

PS: Please keep my endorsement of Carl a secret – we’ll be formally announcing it on June 24.
PPS: If you cannot join me and Carl on June 25, can you at least donate to Carl today?

Contributions to Carl DeMaio for Congress 2013 are not tax deductible for tax purposes. Individuals may contribute up to a maximum of $5,200 to the campaign, and a couple may contribute up to $10,400 - $2,600 per individual toward the 2014 primary and general elections. Corporate contributions and contributions by foreign nationals are prohibited. Paid for by Carl DeMaio for Congress 2014 PO Box 27227, San Diego CA 92198

If Bill Lynch didn't endorse Carl DeMaio for Congress, we'd assume there was a disturbance in the matrix. They're buds. Lynch and the Lincoln Club were major backers of Prop. B, the pension-reform initiative to which DeMaio hitched his mayoral campaign. And, Lynch's Center on Education Policy and Law at USD co-sponsored a poll with U-T San Diego shortly before the November mayoral election that put DeMaio way ahead of Bob Filner, but raised questions about methodology.
