Things to do at night

A one-handed DJ, sunglasses at night and more

DJ Mark E Quark recently broke his hand, but that isn’t stopping him from spinning a one-handed set at the upcoming three-year anniversary of Moonshake, the future-disco / spacey-house / technogrooves night that happens at Kadan every first and third Friday of the month. Moonshake is the brainchild of Quark, Dr. Indulgent, Bob Dazzla, and at the anniversary event on Friday, Dec. 16, they’ll all be spinning a set, along with Turbo Sound by Rawness. The no-cover night kicks off at around 9 p.m.

Here are a few more club nights to hit up this week:

SD Union: Crews for a Cause @ The Ruby Room: From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, the monthly night of dubstep, electro, drum and bass, breaks, house and hip-hop will feature DJs Delano, Swan Dive, Sean Fixx, Hevrock and others. Get in for $3 with a new, unwrapped toy or three cans of food, or pay $5 if you show up empty-handed.

SOLO’s Celebrate Sight Party @ Ambient (El Cortez Building, 702 Ash St., Suite 106, Downtown): If ever there were a time to wear sunglasses at night, this would be it. SOLO is a San Diego company that donates a pair of prescription eyeglasses to people in need for every pair of sunglasses it sells, and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, the company will celebrate a good year of business. Your $10 helps raise even more funds for eye surgeries for low-income folks, and the party includes entertainment, raffle prizes, food and more.

Holiday Dysfunction @ La Jolla Comedy Store: Local comedians Kim Thompson, Jeff Bilodeau, Erik Westland, Dewey Bratcher and Kayla Avery and a few special guests will perform holiday-themed stand-up sets from 8 to 11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.
