Cuckoo Chaos had a successful run at New York City’s CMJ Music Marathon last week. They played four shows and did two live, in-studio sessions during the festival, including playing a sold-out Windish Agency showcase at Mercury Lounge on Friday night and recording a sesh for the well-known indie-music website Daytrotter.
Meanwhile, the band got some serious buzz: They were highlighted by indie-music blog BrooklynVegan and NPR’s All Songs Considered blog; and The New York Times’ chief pop-music critic, Jon Pareles, gave them props twice—once on the Arts- Beat blog and again in a print feature, in which he called the band’s songs “precise and rhapsodic.”
But the fest took a turn for the worse during the weekend. Guitarist Jackson Milgaten spent Saturday night in the emergency room after suffering a hernia, he told CityBeat.
