Summer Guide 2010

Whether you’re a beach bum or a beach bummer, enjoying the sweltering season is no sweat

Everyone’s different. We don’t all live in San Diego because we love the beach. In fact, some of us can’t stand the beach, especially in summertime.

So, this year, we’ve given you people some options. For example, everyone likes movies, right? But you might like mega-blockbusters with huge superstar actors blowing stuff up. Or you might like little art-house films in which the characters do little more than blab to each other about their feelings. Either way, we’ve got you covered.

Each of the features in this year’s Summer Guide fills you in on something going on but then, “if that isn’t your thing,” transitions to the opposite. Our latest way of helping you fill your long summer days with books, films, music, sports, food, art, theater and nightlife begins on Page 18. Oh, and our calendar of the best summer events starts on Page 30.

Whether you’re a cat person from Mars whose glass is half-empty or a dog person from Venus whose glass is half-full, we hope your summer 2010 is a memorable one.
