Summer Guide '09

Now that you've survived Swine Spring, it's time to live it up—we're here to show you how

Hey–the global financial crisis may have siphoned away 30 percent of your 401K and maybe even relieved you of your crappy job, but at least you survived the swine flu, right? So, we say it’s time to celebrate, and there’s no time like summertime—you know, before wildfire consumes the region in the fall.

As we do every year, we’ve put together a pretty comprehensive guide to help you have the most bitchin’ summer in San Diego possible. Need ideas for outdoor relaxation?  Tips on new-surfer etiquette or a guide to concrete hikingBooks to avoid hauling to the beach or info on where to stock up for the big barbeque? We’ve got your summer movies, theatermusic  and important cultural happenings. Plus, features on taking San Diego for granted, scoring at Del Mar  and a place called Pioneertown. Are you kiddin’? This thing’s loaded!

Don’t toss this issue until September, when it might become a fire hazard. And, as always, please patronize the advertisers who made our Summer Guide possible—their ads are full of useful information, too.
Damn, things really aren’t so bad after all.

— David Rolland
