The cast of STOMP at the Fleet Science Center

By Will K. Shilling

Stomp
San Diego San Diego Civic Theatre, 3rd and B Street, Downtown, 619-570-1100
Through March 9. Sold out.

The Science of Sound (featuring members of Stomp)
Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, 1875 El Prado, Balboa Park, 619-238-1233
Thursday, March 6, 12:15 pm. Free.

It's a safe bet you won't be getting in to see Stomp, at least not this season. The deservedly white-hot Broadway percussion phenomenon is only stopping at downtown's Civic Theatre for a measly eight performances in six days. But, there is a way to see at least some of the Stomp cast perform-albeit in a very short program-for free. The amazingly funky, surprisingly handy drummers (pictured) will put on a short show outside the Fleet Science Center, followed by a live, interactive sound demonstration, in which the public will be invited to make sounds with them out of household objects. It's part of a series at the Fleet to demonstrate "The Science of Sound," which runs through March 9.
