Best Of San Diego 2006

And you thought San Diego was an inauthentic town. Well, think again!

By Nobody

Welcome to our annual look at the best San Diego has to offer. This time, we considered the concept of authenticity. We asked our scribes to write about what's real to them in San Diego County.

For one writer, its the region's two remaining drive-in theaters, or a slice of apple pie in Julian; for another, it's the recent explosion of independent clothing boutiques. For one, it's a local band playing at house party; for another, it's dulling the pain the next day with a perfect hangover breakfast. And for yet another CityBeat-nik, it's a journey down C Street, where she found the dapper fellow you see on this page. We challenge you to come up with someone more authentic than him.

We hope you like what our editorial team has crafted here; there's some mighty-fine prose filling the bunch-o-links below, in my biased opinion.
