Ol' Crazy Eyes

By Daniel Strumpf

Authorities are on the lookout for a man who attempted to grab a 7-year-old boy at the Lucky Waller Park last Thursday. According to Detective Mark Hass, the suspect, who was wearing a blue jacket with his hood up, grabbed the boy and dragged him toward the parking lot and told him he was going to “take him home, and it would be their secret.”

The boy was able to fend off the assailant using his razor scooter to hit the man.

Police released a computerized sketch of the suspect (shown here), who's described as a clean-shaven Hispanic male, 35 to 40 years old, with a normal to thin build, gray hair and glasses.

We took one look at the sketch and wondered if the boy may have misunderstood the encounter-and his attacker, who may have actually been saying “E.T. phone home” while chewing a mouthful of Reese's Pieces. No, really-imagine this guy with a hood.

Either that, or the kid was having some fun with the sketch artist:

“Now, tell me about his eyes. Where were they? Right here?”

“Lower.”

“Here?”

“Lower.”

“Here?”

“Lower.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.” [Giggle.]
