Dan Croll: A Trolley Show

British singer-songwriter performs 'Maway' on the MTS

By Ryan Bradford

Some musicians spend their entire careers toiling in the underground, paying their dues, playing to empty clubs and sleeping on fans’ floors. They often have nothing to show for their work except ruined voices and premature aging. Singer-songwriter Dan Croll, on the other hand, went the academic route. He studied at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he was mentored by the school’s founder, Paul McCartney, which undoubtedly boosted his profile.

In this episode of A Trolley Show, the British singer-songwriter performs “Maway,” a light, breezy tune that musically encapsulates the nonchalant trajectory of his career. His backup singers are equally engaging, considering that their harmony has the quality of a barbershop quartet.
