American Authors: A Trolley Show

Brooklyn band performs 'Best Day of My Life' on the MTS

By Ryan Bradford

Even if you haven’t heard “Best Day of My Life,” you’ve heard it. With the jangly banjo and the owl hooting, it’s one of those songs that are perfectly tailored to nestle in your ear and birth worms that won’t be able to get out for days. It’s no wonder that the song’s been featured in Hyundai commercials and the trailer forThe Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

In this episode of A Trolley Show, well-coiffed Brooklyn outfit American Authors perform their hit with the enthusiasm of a band in love with its music. Not that that’s a bad thing—in fact, it’s a refreshing break from the quiet navel-gazing of most indie musicians. It’s best to just give in to the ear worms, because the more you fight it, the longer they stay.
