New Year’s Eve stragglers

Welcome 2013 with a few of these.

Last week, we wrestled down a major project, our annual New Year’s Eve Guide—or, as I refer to it, the Stress-Induced Nightmare-Causing Guide. We listed a whopping 100 parties, dinners and shows, but, as it usually goes, there were some events that came in late. So, here I reward those stragglers and provide you with four New Year’s Eve events that we missed.

Vin de Syrah Spirit & Wine Parlor (901 Fifth Ave., Downtown) will hold a special champagne tasting from 8 to 9 p.m. with resident sommelier Adam Stemmler, who’s chosen three fine bubblies paired with small bites. RSVP to jesse@syrahwineparlor.com. Tickets for the tasting are $95 and grant you access to Syrah’s vintage Hollywood New Year’s Eve party, We’ll Always Have Paris. The bar will be converted into a mid-century Tinseltown soirée and will feature burlesque by Rouge and music from DJ Huy Believe. If you want to skip the champagne tasting, tickets for the party are $60 pre-sale.

Feel like body-rolling to Blackstreet’s “No Diggity”? Swing over to Bar Dynamite (1808 Wash ington St. in Mission Hills) for An Intimate Hip-Hop Affair, where DJ Beatnick will be spinning all night long. At $5 to $10 for tickets, it’s also a bargain. Enjoy a complimentary champagne toast while freak-dancing like a middle-schooler.

Underground (literally) club Propagandist (835 Fifth Ave., Downtown) is putting on a retro-themed party— Celebrate Like it’s 1934—so don some vintage attire. A $20 (pre-sale) ticket includes a craft cocktail. Night-of, there will be a progressive cover starting at $20 and capping at $40.

Finally, The Westin Hotel (400 W. Broadway, Downtown) welcomes 2013 with a Midnight in Paris party. DJ Scotty Boy is coming all the way from Las Vegas to commandeer this rager, which will feature a balloon drop, light show and more. Tickets are $119 and include a four-hour premium open bar.
