Shenanigans: Lincoln Club Logic

Tweet us the most creative claim about Lincoln Club's candidate, Scott Sherman

By Dave Maass

The Lincoln Club of San Diego County, a conservative political group, recently sent out an attack mailer claiming that, if elected, District 7 City Council candidate Mat Kostrinsky would take a dirty, stinky, filthy government pension. The Lincoln Club’s candidate, Scott Sherman, said he would not.

Problem is, that isn’t accurate. Kostrinsky will turn down a pension, too, but since he didn’t say that on his website, the Lincoln Club said they were perfectly justified in claiming he would.

By that logic, anything a candidate doesn’t deny must be true by default. In response, Kostrinsky supporters have taken to Twitter to share outlandish claims about Sherman that could be true because the candidate’s website doesn’t say otherwise.

We’ll give a prize to the most creative claim about Sherman, as determined by our editorial staff. Tweet it using the #lincolnclublogic hashtag or comment here or at facebook.com/sdcitybeat.
