When all you want to do is dance

I'm not going to lie to you-this week is all about Saturday night. I've been waiting for this Saturday to come for the past month and a half. But we'll get to that in a moment.

Before Saturday arrives, there are two downtown events worthy of your booty's attendance-Terry Mullan at THIN (852 Fifth Ave.) and the return of Pop Noir to Static Lounge (634 Broadway).

Mullan, a part-time San Diegan, is back in town on May 10 with his signature blend of funky acid house and jacked-up disco. Now spending most of his time in Chicago, Mullan has a tight grasp on the best house music coming out of that scene and will no doubt leave THIN's walls dripping with it.

Those Pop Noir kids throw yet another haute couture party for the 18-and-up crowd at Static Lounge on May 11. This time around, they've invited DJ Paparazzi from L.A. and DJs Rotny and Memorex from local rock band Buddy Akai. There'll also be fashions by Styletto magazine, the Isha B Collection and Luigi Vera for their runway show.

And then there's Saturday, when Canadian robot rock stars MSTRKRFT (pronounced "master craft") throw down an all-night/all-morning Kimika-produced party at Tia Juana Tilly's (701 Ave. Revolución, Tijuana). Their dark, glitchy remixes of artists like Annie, Metric, Wolfmother and Bloc Party sound like they came from some wild rave on The Transformers-one thrown by the Decepticons, of course.

This event is destined to be unlike any other we'll be seeing anytime soon-at least not until Daft Punk's arrival in L.A. next month. Get Ugly DJs Dr. Indulgent and Alex Villalobos, along with Don Carlitos, Guero and Monchis will kick off the festivities.

You can sleep when you're cryogenically frozen.
