Stone Soup Theatre Company’s tick, tick… BOOM! and the rest of this week's theater listings
I wasn’t the only one who dissed Stone Soup Theatre Company’s tick, tick… BOOM! when it played The Lab at The Academy of Performing Arts last March. While I pretty much liked the ideas, I thought the venue seriously hobbled the effort amid the stage’s lack of depth. Undaunted, Stone Soup has set the show to rights with a restaging at Downtown’s Tenth Avenue Theatre—this one registers with lots more clarity, as director Lindsey Gearhart’s cast finally has room to roam. Jonathan (played Aug. 3 by understudy Eric Vest) is this close to 30, and he’d better finish his Broadway musical before time runs out on him. He reaps an enormous reward in the process, simply by following his heart.
